There were two days to go before my first Christmas
in Connecticut with my fiancé’s family.
I was almost entirely prepared, each gift had been
wrapped, the last batch of cookies was in the oven,
and the contents of my closet had been crammed into
one very large bag.
As I surveyed my luggage a troublesome thought occurred
to me. At home, we spend nearly all day on Christmas
in front of the fire in our pajamas. If his family
wore pajamas around the house I was definitely in need
of a new pair. I searched New York’s finest stores
for hours, but went home empty handed and confused.
Did anyone make a great pair of pajamas that didn’t
look as though they belonged on a teenager or Little
Red Riding Hood’s Grandmother? I’m not
opposed to silly conversational prints or frilly lace
trims, but they just aren’t me.
As I fell asleep that Christmas Eve, visions of pajamas
danced in my head. I became obsessed with finding the
perfect pair, but found myself repeatedly disappointed.
It seemed as though anything that was really cute wasn’t
very well made, eliminating many choices before they
even reached the dressing room. After searching high
and low I finally decided that enough was enough. If
I wanted a pair of perfect pajamas I was going to have
to make them myself.
The introduction of Elizabeth Cotton is the result
of years of industry experience and one extremely unsatisfying
shopping trip. The fabrics are what I believe to be
the world’s finest, and each garment is constructed
to last. Each detail reflects my affection for designs
that are clean, feminine, and timeless. I truly think
that I now have a pair of perfect pajamas and I hope
that you love them too!
